The Order of the Eastern Star is a Masonic appendant (auxiliary) body open to both men and women. It was established in 1850 by lawyer and educator Rob Morris, a noted Freemason, and adopted and approved as an appendant (auxiliary) body of the Masonic Fraternity in 1873. After the Civil War and the 14th Amendment was ratified, making African Americans US citizens in 1868, Queen Esther #1-the first African American chapter for women of color- was chartered on December 1, 1870.


No, we are not. An occult is defined as an esoteric means of teaching magic with spells. OES does not practice magic nor cast spells. Contrary to the online accusations of OES being an occult, our teachings are both Biblical and moral, and our primary service is to benefit widows and orphans. Historically, OES played a major part in the women's suffrage and civil rights movements.


Phoenix Rising is an organization of benevolence and service. Helping those who feel hopeless to regain purpose is our ultimate community building through service and collaboration.


Phoenix Rising meets on the 3rd and 5th Sunday of the month at 3:00 PM in Euless, Texas.
